Geek the Library Stakeholder's Meeting

Get your geek on and learn how you can contribute to our 2013-2014 geek the library campaign at our Stakeholders Meeting on Tuesday, August 20th at 6 p.m. This campaign will help us broaden awareness of all the great things we do for our community. Storm Chaser Bob Hartig

This Thursday, August 15th, at 7pm, storm chaser and Michigan native Bob Hartig will be here to share his experiences tracking dangerous weather across the United States. Take a look at his blog at Stormhorn.com. He'll bring pictures and video of tornadoes he's witnessed and tell you what you can do to stay safe when severe weather strikes. All are welcome. Dewey Decibel Stand-up Comedy Tour

Enjoy a belly-full of laughter when the Dewey Decibel Comedy Tour comes to the library on Thursday, August 8th at 7 p.m. Comedians Bill Hildebrandt and Keven Kramis have shared the stage with the likes of Judy Tenuta, Rita Radner, Tim Allen, and Jeff Foxworthy, so you know a good time will be had by all. Teens through adults will most enjoy this performance. Sign-up here for a reminder email or just show up. This free event is paid for with support from the Friends of the Westland Library.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 10 am to 4 pm.  All interested donors may sign up by registering at the American Red Cross website: www.redcrossblood.organd enter Sponsor code: wplccp or call 800-RED-CROSS.  Anyone over 17 (16 with a permission slip) can donate blood.

Speaker Derek Weaver

All are welcome to join us for a program on the Grand River Creative Corridor this Thursday, July 25th at 7 pm. The GRCC Detroit is an art corridor and neighborhood revitalization project concentrated on Grand River Avenue between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. It includes over 100 murals on 15 buildings, an outdoor art gallery, free-standing installations, and more.

This program will be presented by Derek Weaver, who launched the project in July 2012. He is the managing director of 4731 Gallery and Studios.

MeLCat is Back

Beginning July 9, 2013, MeLCat once again will be available to Westland residents.  MeLCat allows for the inter-library loan of materials our library does not own.  We appreciate your patience and understanding while we changed our system and MeLCat was unavailable.
