Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company

On Sunday, March 6th at 2 p.m., the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company will offer a program of scenes from multiple Shakespeare plays designed to tie in with Station Eleven, the 2015-2016 Great Michigan Read selection. Emily St. John Mandel’s novel features a touring Shakespeare company that travels through Michigan after a global flu epidemic, bringing art and culture into the lives of small communities of survivors. Pigeon Creek’s program includes scenes from King LearA Midsummer Night’s DreamHenry V, and several other plays in a lively and audience-interactive performance.

This program is funded in part by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Sign up to attend the program here

Adult Video Game Launch Party

Check out the new video game collection this Saturday! Adults are invited to the Launch Party on Saturday, January 23rd at 2:00pm. Play games like Call of Duty, Fallout 4, and Gears of War. Borrow games and enjoy free pizza and pop!

Adults 18 or older may attend the launch party with valid ID.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

The library will be closed on Monday, January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 19 at 9:00 a.m.

Secretary of State Mobile Office at the Auto Show

This year’s visitors to the North American International Auto Show can stop by the full-service Secretary of State Mobile Office to renew tabs, obtain a new driver’s license, or complete any other transaction handled by the SOS. The mobile office will be located in the concourse near the Hall B entrance throughout the show’s nine-day run (Jan. 16-24). Stop by between 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends; and noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Zumba Cancelled 1/15

The Zumba Fitness class for Friday, January 15th, has been cancelled due to building construction. The classes will now begin January 22nd. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at the library on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 10 am - 4 pm. All interested donors may sign up by registering at the American Red Cross website: redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code: wplccp or call 800-RED-CROSS. You can also call the library (734-326-6123) and ask for Susan to register. Anyone over 17 (16 with a permission slip) can donate blood.
