International Games Day

On Saturday, November 3rd, the Westland Public Library will be hosting 5 different gaming events for International Games Day @ your library. Join us between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to try your hand at board games, video games, card games and active games. Bring your friends and/or family for a fun day. Play three different gaming events and win a certificate for a free pizza from Toarmina's. For more information, see our Events page or talk with our Reference Desk.

Vote for your Favorite Children's Book Series

It's Election Time in the Children's Department!  Kids can select a book from our cubbies under the canopy and complete a ballot choosing their favorite book series.  Candidates include Clifford, Frog & Toad, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and more.  Winners will be posted after Election Day, November 6.

You will be able to find out if you're registered to vote, where your voting precinct is, who is on the ballot and the proposals.

LEGO® DUPLO® and the Association for Library Services To Children (ALSC) have joined hands to celebrate and support local libraries. The most nominated library in the "Read! Build! Play!" project receives $5,000 for books and supplies. The top 200 libraries receive a special LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! toolkit chock full of cutting edge, early literacy programming that combines preschool books with a versatile collection of DUPLO bricks.

Movies are back!!

The Westland Public Library is happy to announce that we will start showing movies again for the public. Two Saturdays per month, we will host a matinee viewing of a recently-run movie, starting at 1 p.m. The movies will start on Saturday, September 15th.
